Top 10, the most used
There are many factors that come into play when determining the fame or interest that a programming language generates. However, the truth is that it often happens that each developer has their preferred language because of how comfortable they feel with it on a daily basis.
The TIOBE index – a Dutch company dedicated to the analysis of codes from searches detected on Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, YouTube and Baidu – provides a reference of the popularity of programming languages and generates a ranking with the most used each month. September’s results placed Python in first place, and while this was to be expected as it has been one of the most used for a long time, there was an increase of +4.07% compared to August.
Also, C has been in second place for months and completes the Java podium. It is closely followed by C++, which has threatened to supplant it since last June. These four languages have been in the world of programming for a long time and are widely accepted in all kinds of scenarios. The maturity, support and communities around them have served to strengthen their position in the market, and of course being familiar with these languages is important to face new challenges in this field. While for those who are just venturing to meet them, it can be very beneficial for a favorable start to their career.
After these top 4 and a little further back, we find: C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Assembly language, SQL, PHP, who complete the list of the first 10 most searched, of the 100 that the TIOBE report registers.
